Whew. It feels like it's been quite awhile. I just haven't felt at all like writing. I think to myself...."I should write something in my diary," and then my rebellious self says, "Nope." Next day, same thing. Today, my rebellious self said, "Alright, then. Let's do it." And, here I am.

Tonight is the Super-8 Film festival! Woo hoo! I'm very excited. My mom is spending the night and watching Baby Lou. Aw yeah. It's date night. There are 14 films this year--quite a good showing--and, I can't wait to see them. We have to remember to bring chairs since it is in some couple's warehouse/apartment and they've already technically moved out, but have it until the end of the month. I also have to remember to go pick up some alcohol. What's date night without it? Dry.

Interesting thing about booze lately...

I feel really conspicuous buying it when I'm with Lou. I feel very Elizabeth Taylor in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Only, she had no children. Wait, she had an imaginary child. (Ugh. What a gut-wrencher that movie was. She was brilliant in it, by the way. But, that movie exhausts me.) Anyway, you know the kind of lush I mean. I feel tawdry. Scandalous, even. So, when I'm buying it I like to rub my forehead and throw on a look that says, "I'm going to use this to wash down the barbiturates." What's with me?

Work? We've got two new people in our department. So odd. We were shrinking for so long and now we're growing. I like them both. Very cool. I'm so thankful. We've got a great group and I'd hate to see us go down hill. Sure, we've got one serious crabass and a desktop publisher who is truly a loon, but all in all, it's a great group of people. One is very cool, but she speaks the corporatese. Ugh. The other day in a meeting she handed me a mock-up for some online learning and said, "This is the document you'll work intimately with." Jesus. I tried not to snicker, but I am severely immature, people, and I can't just turn that on and off. To her credit, she laughed too. Good egg. She also runs marathons. I think that's cool. Maybe because my brother does and I think he's cool. The other new person? Pregnant. Oh, the scandal it has caused. People are either completely mortified by the fact that she started a job 7 months pregnant or 100% behind her. I'm the latter. She was hired when she was around 4 months pregnant and nobody could tell. Also, you're not allowed to ask such things (of course), and she's got a bunch of HR experience and knew that she could actually put the company in an awkward place if she volunteered the information so she didn't say anything until after she was hired. I say good for her. I know I'm biased because I have a baby and I took maternity leave and didn't feel a bit guilty, but come on. She was the best candidate for the job. Our company offers maternity leave. She is now an employee of our company. More power to her, damnit. She's coming back and will probably work here for several years. I do understand where some of the gripers are coming from, but I have to say lighten up, man. Let the woman have her career. I'm all for paternity leave too.

Alright. Gotta go. It's Tae Bo time. I'm going to kick some imaginary butt.
