2002-09-20 - 2:42 p.m. Well, Baby Lou's appointment was today and the news, I suppose, is good, but it has given me a serious headache. She's napping now. The lump in her neck is one of three things and none of those are cancer. It is either a skin cyst, a thyroglossal cyst or a lymph node (which we would be removing unnecessarily, but there's no way to be sure prior to surgery). That is also the order of likelihood. None of these are particularly serious, it's just the fact that we are going to have to have it surgically removed that makes me feel like vomiting. I was really hoping that it was a hemangioma. She has two of those on her eyelids and they are a harmless bundle of blood vessels (sometimes called strawberry birthmarks) that begin to shrink after the first year and go away between one to nine years of age. That was what I was prepared to hear. I hate the idea of her being operated on, but talking with the doctor was reassuring. He was very good about answering my questions. And, I always ask about three more questions than most people can stand. He was very patient. Sonny and I set the date (October) and the three of us went and ate creme brulee. Aren't we high class? Okay, Baby Lou had cheerios, but she had a very small taste of the good stuff. Today I shoot the final scene of my Super-8 film. I need to go scoop out my pie. Perhaps the other reason that I have a headache is that I've had 4 shots of espresso and a diet pepsi. Lord. I'm toxic. |
